Born December 2, 1931, in Elgin, North Dakota, to Mike & Catherine Pflugrath. Rod served his country during the Korean War as a radio operator with the 69th Field Artillery Battalion. In 1963, he and his beloved wife Tess (née Cote) moved to California, settling in Lancaster, where they raised four children: Bill (Annie), Mary (Craig), Susan (John), and David (Carrie). Together with their spouses, they honor and celebrate the remarkable man he was.
Rod spent his career with Farmers Insurance and was known for his steady work ethic, kindness, and gentle spirit. After Tess’s passing in 2009, following 52 years of marriage, Rod found renewed joy and companionship with Helen, who brought love and purpose to his later years.
He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and is survived by his children and brother Mick (Pat). Rod was preceded in death by many loved ones, and we take comfort in imagining a joyful reunion—perhaps with music, laughter, and a dance floor nearby. If you enjoy square dancing on Earth, perhaps your squares know no limits in Heaven.
Fair winds and following seas, your memory is a blessing.
