Bartholomew (Bart) Francis O’Shea, age 89, passed away peacefully at home and with his family on Easter Sunday, April 12 2020 due to complications due to Parkinson’s disease. He was born June 4, 1930 in San Francisco, California to Bartholomew and Theresa O’Shea. He attended Saint Ignatius High School and University of San Francisco, where he played basketball. His ROTC commitment led to a 2 year stint in the US Army as a second lieutenant.
Dad had a very successful career that took him all over the country. He met all sorts of wonderful people and always loved to share their names and stories.
Dad was a friend to everyone, and instilled friendship and loyalty in everybody he met. People were naturally drawn to his easy nature and sense of humor. He loved playing handball and especially loved beating his handball friends. He kept friendships that lasted for lifetimes, and remembered people he had met years ago. He was a devoted man and found peace in the Daylesford Abbey community.
Of all of his adventures around the world he considered Florence Italy a home away from home and lived for every moment he traveled there to see his daughter Pamela and his Grandchildren Livia and Gregorio Ghika.
Bart is survived by his brother Joe O’Shea and Sister Joanne O’Shea; Caroline and Bob Wilford; Three children including Mark O’Shea, Ann O’Shea, and Pamela O’Shea; and two grandchildren, Gregorio and Livia Ghika, as well as nieces and nephews
