

Bernice Nosek Sarmento, born on September 2, 1944, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at the age of 80. Born to Frank and Sarah Nosek in Malvern, PA, Bernice was raised with strong values of family, faith, and community, rooted in the rich Polish heritage of her immigrant grandparents.
Bernice was the beloved wife of 62 years to Dominic J. Sarmento, Jr., and together they built a beautiful family and legacy. She was the devoted mother of four children including Stephen (Lisa) Sarmento, Michael (Carrie) Sarmento, and Matthew (Melissa) Sarmento. She was the cherished grandmother of twelve grandchildren including Alexandra, Michael, Spencer, Riley, Kaitlyn, Gavin, Emilie, Madeline, and Gabriel. She is survived by her brother, Frank Nosek, Jr., with whom she shared many fond memories.
Bernice attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School in Malvern, PA and later graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School in West Chester, PA. She lived in King of Prussia for 35 years, where she dedicated herself to raising her family and serving her community. She worked at West Chester University in the Admissions Office before fully embracing motherhood at age 21. Bernice found joy in gardening, home decorating, playing cards, riding her bike, and cooking. She cherished her summers at the Jersey Shore, where she developed a lifelong love for the ocean. Her passion for helping others was evident through her volunteer work at St. John’s Church Soup Kitchen in Boyertown and the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Bernice’s Celebration of Life Services on Friday Nov. 22 at 11:00 am at Alleva Funeral Home, Inc. in Paoli. Visitation Friday morning 10-11 am at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, tribute contributions in Bernice’s memory may be made to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House Donate - RMHC Philadelphia Region.
