Craig B. Wilcox, 62, passed away on September 7, 2023. He was born on October 1, 1960, in Norristown, PA to Bruce and Ann Wilcox. He grew up in Landsdale and Berwyn with his two sisters, Jane and Claire. He graduated from Conestoga High School in 1978 and then received his BA in journalism at the University of South Carolina in 1982. After graduating from college, Craig married Sandy on November 28, 1987, and they raised four children, William, Wesley, Jennifer, and Jessica. Above all else, Craig loved spending time with his family. Whether he was enjoying geocaching, yard work, fishing, or coaching, his family was always with him.
Craig never went into journalism but switched gears to IT. He was a self-taught software developer and has had a long career using those impressive skills. He was always reading and learning to keep up with the latest programming tools. Craig started his programming career at Trilog where he met Sandy. He moved onto Colonial Penn of which Sandy followed him there. Strohl Systems was his next stop. This was a job that he loved and has formed lifelong friendships. There were a few steps along the way with other companies but ended his career at IQVIA back with his buddies from Strohl Systems.
Craig had many hobbies, including golf and music. He was a former member of Phoenixville Country Club where he played on their golf team. He was lucky and skilled enough to get two hole-in-one’s which he was very proud of. Craig qualified for the USGA Mid-Amateur Golf Championship back in the late 90’s. He continued to golf with his sons in a competition team at Spring Hallow through his final summer. Craig was also a very talented musician. He enjoyed playing and collecting his guitars and bass. After college Craig was in a band called San Sadan, which he loved doing so much. He has passed his musical ability down to his sons who frequently created and listened to music with Craig.
Craig also enjoyed cheering for all of the Philadelphia Sports teams and coaching his children in softball and baseball. He loved the beach, specifically Ocean City, NJ, and Long Beach Island. He also had a deep love for all of his pets. Craig was an avid geocacher, operating under the username, ServerSide6. He successfully found 1013 caches and placed 60 very creative hides. The geocaches that he created received over 1100 favorites, making him a very respected member of the geocaching community.
Craig is survived by his wife of 36 years Sandy (nee Dahlstrom) and four children William, Wesley, Jennifer and Jessica. He is also survived by his sisters Jane Wilcox and Claire Head and 8 nieces and nephews.
