Dorothy S. Huff

Dorothy S. Huff, age 93, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Dorothy was born in Easton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Dr. Harry and Mrs. Pauline Sassaman. After graduating from Easton High School in 1947, Dorothy attended Wilson College and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1951 where she studied to be a dental hygienist.

Dottie was positive, fun loving, and a source of joy for her family and many friends. Her life was full of ups and downs but she remained busy and involved. Her daughter, Susan Niederberger, and three husbands predeceased her but she continued to find ways to enjoy friends and family. She was proud of her daughter's pioneering efforts to provide support and help to parents of autistic children. Dorothy cherished visits with her grandsons, who are autistic. She loved travel, tennis, gardening, and bridge. Dorothy was a volunteer at the Wayne Women's Exchange for 20 years and was a docent at the Brandywine Museum of Art for 33 years, where she was known for her fast paced tours, great laughter, and connecting with her tour groups.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Jane Fleck, son-in-law Tom Niederberger, grandsons Bill and Patrick Niederberger, step-daughter Trudi Rowbury, son-in-law Roger Myers, nieces Meredith Fleck, Shelby Slayton, Betsy Rybeck Lynd, Jennifer Rybeck Houde and nephews Kirk and Eric Sassaman and Dean Rybeck. Her brother, Dr.Robert Sassaman, predeceased her.
