

Herman was predeceased by his loving wife Joan; he was the father of 2 sons: Michael (Marci) and Patrick (Jen), grandfather of 4: Christopher, Dave, Jackie (Chris), and Katie (Zach), and great-grandfather of 3: Cole, Graham, and Noah.
Herman was an active member of St. Norbert Church in Paoli where he faithfully tended the gardens and attended daily Mass until he was no longer able. Herman received his Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Western Illinois University in 1954, his Master’s in Chemistry from Western Illinois University in 1956, and his Ph.D from the University of Illinois in 1963. After his post-doctoral research at MIT in Boston, Massachusetts, Herman became a professor of Organic Chemistry at Villanova University until his retirement in 1999. He and Joan always enjoyed their time “up north” in Wellsboro, PA, and Herman was fortunate to have so many wonderful friends who stayed close even after he couldn’t attend daily Mass.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, November 6th from 9-10AM at St. Norbert Church (50 Leopard Rd. Paoli, PA). A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM. Inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
