Joyce Ethel Morgan of East Goshen, Pennsylvania formerly of Havertown Delaware County, Pennsylvania on Tuesday October 3rd, 2023 passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Daughter of the late Honorable Charles Perry Liverton and Ethel Kramer, sister of late Charles Perry wife Kay Liverton II. Survived by her four loving children Barbara Morgan, Edward Morgan wife Debijay (Murray), Deborah Morgan, and John Morgan wife Melissa (D’Agostino) eight grandchildren John, Ashley, Lily, Jonathan, Kimberly, Charles, Edward, Grady, her two great grandchildren John, and Mason, sister in Law Gail Morgan and nieces Judy and Suzanne. Joyce was born to the Honorable Charles and Ethel Liverton, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
She grew up in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania where she attended Upper Darby High School and graduated in 1964. Joyce would go on to marry Edward Morgan of Upper Darby and lovingly raise her kids in Havertown, Pennsylvania. As a young mother she filled many roles in addition to being a homemaker.Joyce was also involved in service to the community, like her parents she was always volunteering in local politics as a committee woman and campaign organizer. Joyce was key in helping launch the family business Chemical Equipment Labs inc. Her main joy in life was her children. She was very proud of her four loving strong children. Once she unfortunately separated from her husband, Joyce took on the role as a working single mother with great courage and will power. She held three jobs for many years and continued to raise her four kids with unconditional love and support. Joyce started working in 1983 in the publishing industry as an administrative assistant. With her hard work and endless dedication she rose through the ranks to a sales and marketing director during a challenging period for the industry. She held jobs at Prisim Media, Thompson Publishing, and Penton Media. Joyce was very religious and strongly believed in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice to the world. She was a member of the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church where she always attended their services, and sang in their choir as a child. In her later life, she enjoyed attending services with her family at Wayne Presbyterian Church. She was a very organized woman always keeping calendars, books, and reminders in her purse. She always maintained a tight schedule and made sure to address whatever was needed to be accomplished for the day. Above all, Joyce was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. Her children and Grandchildren were the most important people in her life. She is remembered by her family for her caring, and selfless attitude she always carried with her. Whenever she was asked about herself, she quickly switched the topic to talk about her children or grandchildren. She always wanted to know about how the grandchildren were doing in school, sports, and extracurriculars. If anything was ever wrong, she made it her job to fix it. Her house was covered in school pictures, graduations, weddings, holidays, and vacations, with every picture being of her children or grandchildren. Up until her final breath, she kept toys and games for her grandchildren when they came over to visit. When the kids would leave she would be seen waving at her family until they were completely out of sight. Always with a smile on her face. Joyce loved the beach. Every year she vacationed at the Southern Jersey shore.
She was proud of the house she owned in Avalon, New Jersey. She spent a large part of her life on the water either on the beach, or boating with family, and friends. Joyce will be forever remembered as “Mom” “Nanu” “Gram”, and “Grandmom” as well for her bright smile and her selfless attitude. While not here with us on earth, we know she is up in Heaven sitting besides God the Father, smiling down while watching over her family, and friends, casting blessings and making sure she knows what everyone is doing. Joyce’s selfless attitude came with her selflessness, she desired that all donations be made to the Penn Medicine Hospice Friends Fund, Abramson Cancer Center or the Alzheimer’s association Delaware valley Chapter.
Friends and family are invited to her viewing at 9:00 a.m., followed by her memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Wayne Presbyterian Church located at 125 East Lancaster Ave, Wayne, Pennsylvania.
