Louis J. Cappelli

Elivio (Cappy) Louis Cappelli, 87 of Devon, Pa passed away with his children by his side at the Wayne Center on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018. He was born on February 8, 1931 to Elivio and Giovina (DiAntonio) Cappelli originating from Abruzzi, Italy. Lou was the beloved father of 8 children: Lisa (Cappelli) Karakasis, Mark Cappelli, Louis Cappelli, Richard Cappelli, Nicholas Cappelli, Cheryl (Cappelli) Capparell, Tammi (Cappelli) Becker, and Terri Cappelli.

He was the proud Pop Pop of 16 grandchildren; Alexandria, Marissa, and Carli Cianciulli; Maria, Nicole, and Angelo Karakasis; Brett and Chad Cappelli: Alissa, Christopher, and Tricia Cappelli; Brandi, Stephen, and Amanda Becker; Ava and Isabella McKernan.

Lou is survived by estranged wife Theresa Salamone Cappelli, his sisters Rose Bello of Wayne, and Terri Bedford of Florida. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Maria Guiseppa, Marie Catarina, Anna, Louisa, Gaspare, Elena, Giovannina, Cesilio (Albert) Lucia and Erminia.

In 1959 at the age of 29, Lou started working with George and Tom Fazio. Over the course of the next 40 years, the trio built several renowned golf courses throughout the country and abroad. Lou was a true master of his trade as a golf course shaper, and millions of golfers have experienced his talents and artistry with without ever knowing who was responsible.

Despite his dedication, golf was never the central focus of his life. Lou was most committed to making the lives of those less fortunate a little better. He will remain a figure of generosity and honorability within his community in Hendersonville, N.C

where he formed lifelong friendships, before returning home to his roots in Wayne, Pa. where he reconnected with many friends, old and new.

A Celebration of Lou's life will he held on Friday February 23rd at Our Lady of the Assumption located on Old Eagle School Rd in Strafford Pa. 19087 .Visitation from 8:30 to 10:00 and Mass from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow immediately, followed by lunch.
