Margaret “Marge” Brzozowski, who recently turned 100, passed away in her sleep at 8:44 a.m. on April 5, 2023. Her last waking moments were spent with her granddaughter Christine and great-granddaughter Alyssa.
Margaret was born February 26, 1923, to William and Henrietta Fuchs in Ridgewood, Queens. She grew up in Jamaica, NY, graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, and married Richard Bascom, with whom she had two children. After they separated, Margaret worked as a secretary at Chas. Bruning in Manhattan, where she eventually met her second husband, Hugh Kover. They were transferred to Hackensack, NJ, and were happily married until his passing, 3 months after the birth of their son. Several years later, Margaret moved her family to East Rockaway, LI. In 1967, she married her beloved husband Leo J. Brzozowski, a father of five. Margaret was a devoted wife and homemaker, and she and Leo shared 25 happy years together in Mahopac, NY, and Tampa, FL. After Leo’s passing in 1991, Margaret moved to Port Orange, FL, before moving back north. She spent her last years as a vibrant, beloved member of the community at Forwood Manor in Wilmington, DE.
Warmhearted and selfless, Margaret spent her life taking care of and helping others. She was unassuming and a good listener—never the loudest person in the room, but the quiet light that filled it with warmth. She had a cheerful outlook and a playful sense of humor, loved dancing and music, and had a soft spot for children and animals. She was a loving mother and stepmother, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, and a caring friend.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Leo J. Brzozowski; husband Hugh Kover; parents, William and Henrietta Fuchs; brother, William Fuchs; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Senn and Charlotte Bartels; and great-grandson Tristan.
She leaves behind her children, Lynne, Richard (Dorothy), and Jeffrey (Anne); stepsons, Thomas (Patti), James, and Robert (Donna); grandchildren, Christine (Ron), Thomas (Nancy), Christina, Lauren (John), Elizabeth, David, Julie, Amy (Jonathan), and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Brant, Joshua, Jacob, Jasper, and Corran.
Margaret will be interred with her husband Leo at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ.
