

Margaret, known to many as Peggy, was born on June 20, 1935, and raised in Philadelphia by her parents, William and Margaret (Corcoran) Adams. She graduated from West Catholic High School. In 1955, she married Edward J. Carney, Jr. They lived in Drexel Hill, PA for their first 10 years together, and in 1965, moved to Berwyn, PA where they enjoyed a rich full life on Black Swan Lane and joined St. Norbert’s Parish. Peggy was first and foremost a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmom, great grandmom, aunt and daughter who always put ‘family first’ her entire life. She was truly dedicated to each family member, handling all life experiences and events with grace and peace. She was a constant, humble pillar of goodness, kindness and strength. Her constant faith in prayer truly graced our family with constant blessings.
Peggy, was an active volunteer at St. Norbert’s, serving in the school library and as a playground monitor. She later assisted with cleaning the church on Fridays alongside other women from the parish. She was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Peggy passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2026, at the age of 90. She was a strong, positive role model to her children (7), grandchildren (9), and great-grandchildren (8).
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Carney, Jr.; her son, Edward J. Carney III (Virginia); her sister, Ruth Brickley; and her brother, William Adams. She is survived by her children: Kathleen Sullivan (Jim), Eileen Burgess (Keith), William Carney, Linda Schneider (Mike), Christopher Carney, and Julie Sellers (Geoff); nine grandchildren: Lindsay Burgess (Adam), James Sullivan
(Megan), Meghan Marasco (Michael), Kyle Burgess (Melissa), Claudia Schneider, Van Schneider, Ava Sellers, Brady Sellers, and Mason Sellers; eight great-grandchildren: Kennedy Marasco, Lainey Marasco, James (Jay) Sullivan, Julian Cottman, Gemma Burgess, Kora Burgess, Skylar Sullivan, and Luca Marasco and many nieces, nephews, a cousin and their families.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at 10:00 AM. on Wednesday, January 21, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, both to be held at St. Norbert Catholic Church, 50 Leopard Road, Paoli, PA 19301.
