Mike was born on October 9, 1965 in Charlottesville, VA to parents, S. Grant Mulholland and Ruth Mulholland. He grew up on the Main Line outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he attended The Haverford School. Mike discovered many talents starting at a young age. He was creative and artistic with lead roles in multiple local plays and was an active member of his school’s choir. As Mike got older, he developed a passion and talent for numerous sports. He was the captain of his high school’s swim team and competed in the Jr Olympics for crew. Mike graduated from Bucknell University in 1987 and earned a Bachelor of Arts while also enjoying his many friendships as a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He then pursued a Master of Business Administration at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. Mike went on to establish an impressive career as a Senior Pharmaceutical Executive, working for Pfizer, Wyeth, Bristol Meyers Squibb, and Cephalon for over 20 years. Some of his most notable career accomplishments include creating and building the Oncology business unit at Cephalon from scratch, launching EFFEXOR, the first SNRI, for Wyeth in Europe, and making AMBIEN the blockbuster product we know it is today. During Mike’s admirable career, he worked and lived overseas twice in both France and the UK.
Outside of work, Mike pursued his many passions and hobbies. He loved to golf with family and friends at his favorite course at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne and exercise throughout Valley Forge Park. Mike loved to travel, especially to Europe, where he worked and welcomed his first child in Paris, France. He was an avid foodie and enjoyed cooking for his loved ones, as well as trying different cuisines from many places in the world he would visit. Music was his therapy and he always had music playing in his home ranging from classical to classic rock to heavy metal. Additionally, Mike was a huge movie buff with an uncanny ability to recall specific lines from every movie and re-enact them with perfect inflection and tone.
Mike is survived by many loved ones, including his children, Christina Mulholland, Michael Mulholland, Peyton Mulholland, and Rhys Wolf, as well as his mother, Ruth Mulholland, and brothers John and David Mulholland along with numerous nieces and nephews.
