Born in Germany she studied English and French at Heidelberg University, Germany and joined Henkel KG in Düsseldorf, renowned German Manufacturer of applied chemical products. In 1980, Henkel KG offered her a position in New York City. She used her stay there to acquire her MBA graduation at Columbia University.
In 1988, she started a career in the headquarters of Henkel Corp. of America in Ambler PA
and got promoted after a few years to the position of Vice President. In 2002 she married a lawyer George Edel Esqu., who worked for AAA in Philadelphia. After her retirement she continued working voluntarily in management positions for Philadelphia Theatre Co. and Surrey Services for seniors in Wayne and Berwyn. Monika has always been highly appreciated for her intelligence, reliability and dedication and even more for her nice character.
Despite her paying attention to a healthy way of life, in mid-August 2022 she unexpectedly became severely ill and had to undergo immediate surgery of her intestines in Paoli Hospital, of which she was hot able to recover. She passed away on Sept. 22 under hospice care of Dunwoody Village Care Center Newtown Square.
At her request there will be no funeral in the US. Her ashes will be transferred to Germany and buried there in the presence of her closest family members.
