

Dr. Raymond A. Rachman M.D., 83 formerly of Allentown, died on January 3, 2017 at Paoli Hospital. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. son of the late Jennie (Glaser) Rachman and Bernard Rachman. He was the husband of Yolanda A. Rachman with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in March of this year. A graduate of North East High School and Temple University in Philadelphia, he went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from Temple University School of Medicine. He conducted his internship and residency at Albert Einstein Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. and was board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. In 1962 he joined the staff at Einstein and in 1968 was named Chief of Pathology where he continued to practice until 1974. Concurrent with leaving Einstein he, along with three other Philadelphia based Pathologists, were recruited to establish the Pathology Department at what is now known as Lehigh Valley Hospital at Cedar Crest, Allentown, Pa. where he practiced Pathology until retiring in 2002. He held a license to practice medicine in Pennsylvania from 1959-2016. A life long student of medicine he was an author and co-author of numerous medical articles published by various medical journals. In addition to his employment as a Pathologist he was also employed as an Adjunct Professor of Pathology at Jefferson University Medical School. He was a member of the American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Lehigh County Medical Society and the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. He was best known for his brilliance in the field of Pathology and his voracious thirst for knowledge. He will be dearly missed by his family, colleagues and friends.
Survivors: Dr. Rachman is survived by his wife Yolanda of Audubon, Pa., his son David A. Rachman of Breinigsville, Pa., his daughter Joanne Laslo of Drexel Hill, Pa., three grandchildren, Lauren, Michael and Evangelena and two great grandchildren, Katharine and Mary.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Monday January 9, 2017 at Alleva Funeral Home, 1724 E. Lancaster Ave. Paoli, Pa. 19301. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11am to 12pm at the funeral home.
Internment: Internment will be private at the request of the family and will take place immediately after the service at Washington Memorial Chapel, Church Yard, Valley Forge, Pa.
