Richard John Schmidt

Richard “Dick” John Schmidt of Paoli PA passed away peacefully, on Tuesday May 14, 2025 surrounded by his family. Richard leaves behind wife Gloria Rose of 66 years and three children, Denise (Paul) Ricken, Janet (Mark) Michaels, John (Donna) Schmidt, eight grandchildren; Kimberly Thomas (Bryan), Brandon Mallon (Darrah), Weston Mallon (Jaclyn), Lindsay Williams (Aaron), Garrett Michaels, William Michaels, Sean Michaels, Declan Schmidt and seven great grandchildren.

Dick was a first generation American born on December 27, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Anton and Agnes (nee Skalla) Schmidt. He was first in his family to graduate college as a mechanical engineer from Purdue University. He served in the Marine Corps, married his high school sweetheart Gloria and moved to Paoli, Pennsylvania where he raised three children and built a successful engineering business. Dick was very involved in the community with the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and was devoted to his Catholic faith at St. Norbert Parish. Throughout his life he was devoted to his family and was always the friend you could depend on.

There will be visitation at 10am and funeral service at 11am on May 19th at St Norbert Catholic Church, 6 Greenlawn Rd Paoli PA followed by interment at St Monica’s Cemetery, 1175 Old Lancaster Rd., Berwyn, PA. There will be a celebration of life reception to follow at Sajer Hall at Alleva Funeral Home, 1724 E. Lancaster Avenue, Paoli, PA 19301
