Ruth Conigland Daniels peacefully slipped into rest on Sunday, January 7, 2018 in Lacey, Washington. She was 86 years old. Ruth was the second of three children born to Lee Conigland and Viola Whitaker. She was born July 29, 1931, in Weldon, NC. She accepted Christ at an early age and enjoyed reading the bible every day. One of Ruth’s passions was taking good care of herself and staying active. She loved to do “everything” for herself, eating sweets, her family, and found great joy in listening to music.
Ruth is preceded in death by her mother Viola Harris, step-father Joseph Harris, sisters Lenora Hall and Gloria Bailey and brother James Conigland. Ruth leaves to cherish her memories her son Anthony (Tony) Daniels and daughter-in-law Ada Daniels of Lacey, Washington; daughter Judy Daniels (Charles) of Philadelphia; grandsons Cecil Daniels (Linda) of Lacey, Washington, Shawn Young, Jermaine Young, Eric Young, Anthony Thomas, and Kyle Young of Philadelphia; granddaughters Jeanine Foy of Philadelphia, Desyree Jones of Waldorf, Maryland, Anovia Daniels of Washington, District of Columbia, Rhashea Thomas and Krystal Young of Philadelphia, nieces Rhonda Edwards and Maria Edwards of Philadelphia; nephew Michael Hall of Jamaica Queens, New York; several great grandchildren; and friends.
Ruth moved to Philadelphia when she was 8 years old. She retired at the age of 75 working as a Recreation Aid at a senior citizen center. She also worked at Drexel University for several years. Throughout her career, Ruth was employed by organizations where she touched many people's lives.
We are grateful for the wisdom, memories, and times shared with Ruth (aka mom and grandma). She will be deeply missed by all. After a life well lived, Ruth Daniels can claim victory through Christ Jesus.
