

Charles Wellington Swesey, 76 of Papillion, NE passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, due to complications of lung cancer leaving behind a life formed by hard work, humor, and the love of simple pleasures. He was born on August 20,1949, in Fort Riley Kansas to Joyce Darlene Hodge and Charles Farrell Swesey.
Charles graduated from Benson high school and went on to earn a degree in education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha after college he accepted a teaching position but quickly realized the classroom was not his call especially after one memorable day when a student ran off and he had to chase after him soon after transitioned into sales where he spent many years building relationships more diligently.
Following retirement from his full-time career Charles embraced a slower pace of life. He enjoyed working part time and spending time on the golf course where he found relaxation and camaraderie.
Charlie built meaningful relationships throughout his life and was known for his kindness and genuine care for others. He enjoyed spending time evolving and valued the many friendships formed over the years. He is survived by Lauren and husband Mike Gaddy, son John Swesey, and special friend Marg Kalal. Additionally, grandchildren Olivia, Becca, and Hank Gaddy. Charlie was very close with Marg’s family especially her children son Travis Kalal and wife Steffni Kalal and their children Allison and Jessa Kalal, and Trevor Kalal and son Chad and wife Tara Kalal and their children Harper and Luca Kalal. He is also survived by his oldest brother Ronald Swesey, his younger brother Greg Brokman, and younger sister Pamela Stein. He leaves behind many extended family members and close friends who will deeply miss him.
Charlie will be remembered for his dedication to providing for his family and appreciation for the simple things in life along with family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Charles was cremated and will be going home with Lauren until later decision is made about where to spread his ashes as we were legally unable to grant his first wish of standing him up in the trash with his hat on.
Charlie’s visitation will be held at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary on April 12th from 2:00 to 4:00. Address: 441 N Washington St, Papillion, NE 68046.
