David Herman Klostermeyer, a devoted, faithful, and generous soul, passed away on November 19, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on December 1, 1942, David was a resident of Papillion, Nebraska, where he lived a life marked by honesty, humor, thoughtfulness, and wisdom.
David was born to Herman and Clara (Patterson) Klostermeyer and grew up with his brother Donald in the family home in Omaha. He was very active in scouts and activities at Castelar Presbyterian Church. David graduated from Central High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's in Structural Engineering from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
Throughout his career, David worked in civil and structural engineering for several esteemed firms, including Henningsen Durham and Richardson, Wilson Concrete, Kirkham Michael, Omaha Public Power District, and Rupprecht Engineering. His legacy includes numerous buildings and projects across Omaha and other cities, and he took great pride in his work, often pointing out his contributions as he drove by them.
David shared a loving marriage of 57 years with his wife, Judith "Judy" (Salfrank) Klostermeyer. Together, they raised four children: Debra (Phil) Haynes, Michael (Kelly) Klostermeyer, Kelly (Michael) Anthofer, and Scott (Corrie) Klostermeyer, and were blessed with 12 grandchildren. David was a huge Husker fan, holding season tickets from 1962 to the present, and was an avid supporter of any sport, education, or activity his children and grandchildren participated in.
A lifelong member of Castelar Presbyterian Church until its closure in 2014, David was constantly involved in leadership committees and instrumental in organizing the annual Thanksgiving dinner for church families and the neighborhood. He continued his faithful attendance at Hope Presbyterian Church. In his children's early years, he coached and helped organize local sports programs.
David was always interested in those around him and enjoyed playing games with his grandchildren. He was proud of his profession and the structures he worked on. His dedication to family activities, church needs, and his passion for the Huskers and scouting were a testament to his hardworking and devoted nature.
Visitation will be held at Kahler Dolce Mortuary, 441 North Washington Street, Papillion, NE, on November 30, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at Hope Presbyterian Church, 5220 S 159th Ave, Omaha, NE, on December 1, 2025, at 11:00 am, followed by the committal service at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 2300 S 78th St, Omaha, NE, at 2:00 pm.

As one of his Central High teachers famously said, "A word to the wise is sufficient," a sentiment David often echoed to his grandchildren with the question, "What are you going to do with your life?" His legacy of wisdom and love will continue to inspire those who knew him.
