

Dennis William Taylor, affectionately known as "Gus," passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on February 27, 1951, in Belmond, Iowa, Gus was a beloved and cherished individual who lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love. He spent his childhood in Hampton, Iowa, where he was known for his mischievous nature and outgoing personality. Gus was a brave and hard-working individual who played many sports during his school years. At the age of 19, he joined the military and married Carolyn Sue Taylor.
Gus dedicated 27 years to the military, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, a highly respectable rank. Throughout his military career, he and his family lived in various locations across the United States, as well as the Azores and Sicily, Italy. In 1992, Gus and his wife settled in Papillion, Nebraska, where they lived ever since. After retiring from the Air Force, Gus worked as a claims adjuster for Allstate Insurance for 15 years before retiring again.
Gus was married to Carolyn Sue Taylor for 55 years until her passing in December of the previous year. He is survived by his two children, Tina Hunter and Erik Taylor. Tina is married to Chris Hunter, and they have three children: Chelsea, Marissa, and Cole. Erik is married to Eden Taylor, and they have five children: Dustin, Kylie, Mia, Lily, and Erika. Gus also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Brynlee, Lucas, and Lainey. His family was of utmost importance to him, and he was a devoted and loyal family man.
A true outdoorsman, Gus enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and playing golf. He had a passion for watching football games and old westerns on TV, and loved listening to country music. Gus was a skilled carpenter and handyman, known for his ability to fix anything. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing stories, and recounting his many travel experiences with loved ones.
Gus will be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, and great granddad. He was an honest and humorous man who enjoyed life and always liked to have a good time. His family and friends respected him greatly, and he left a lasting impact on all who met him. Gus's family takes comfort in knowing he has joined his beloved wife in a better place.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who supported Gus during his illness. They also appreciate the friends who regularly checked in and visited him. Gus fought bravely and was surrounded by love and care throughout his journey.
A visitation will be held on December 19, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Kahler Dolce Mortuary, located at 441 North Washington Street, Papillion, NE 68046-2231. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at the same venue.
Gus was well-loved and will be missed by many. His legacy of love, fun, and devotion will continue to inspire those who knew him.
