Donna LeVaune Untiedt Krambeck was born to Elsie Louise Henrietta (Nelson) Untiedt and Fred Theodore Untiedt on December 23, 1933, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was their only child.
South Omaha was home to Donna as she spent her childhood and young adult life there. She was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She attended Vinton School for grades K-8. For many years, she was involved in Girl Scouts. As a young teen, she affirmed her baptism and was confirmed, again at St. Luke’s. In 1951, the year she graduated from Omaha South High School, Donna was voted May Day Queen of Popularity! Throughout her entire life, she was a proud South High School alumnus, always supporting her alma mater.
After high school, Donna went to Omaha University, now the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She went through sorority rush and pledged Chi Omega. Little did she know then that all three of her daughters would also become Chi Omegas! After two years of college, Donna went to work at Union Pacific. She was a faithful employee and loved her years there.
On the dance floor, at Sokol Hall, is where Donna met Richard Krambeck. On December 9, 1961, they were united in marriage at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Together, they loved polka dancing (often with the Smutnys, Iskes, Lorenzs, Grubes, and Hubbards, to name a few) and following their favorite accordion player, Dean Hansen. Few weekends ever passed without attending a dance at Sokol, The German American Society, and other dance halls across the county.
Richard and Donna made their home in Ralston. Once she had children, Donna became a homemaker. She raised her daughters and supported their activities by volunteering at their schools. They have been blessed with wonderful neighbors, the Huffs, Dickmans, and Nelsens, as well as many others who lived on 91st Street throughout the years. Many Friday nights were spent going out to dinner and playing cards.
Donna was a lifetime member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Her faith was a very important part of her life. She participated in a variety of Circle groups, volunteered in the Sunday School, Altar Guild, Endowment Board, and never missed a Sunday service. In addition to church activities, Donna loved to play Bunco. For over 40 years, at their monthly Thursday night get-togethers, you could hear Donna and her group members having a great time, laughing and yelling “BUNCO” as they rolled the dice! She also enjoyed her Red Hat activities, specifically “The Red-Hot Lassie” group for several years, attending outings throughout the city. Together, Donna and Rich, sat at many baseball games, basketball games, and baton competitions, cheering on their grandchildren with pride. Lastly, Donna loved her Ralston community! She attended high school football and basketball games, as well as theatre productions, even after her daughters graduated high school.
Donna’s family was her priority and she loved them very much. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard; her daughters: Connie (Jim) Tefft, Cindy (Mike) Fleming, and Christine Kilzer; her grandchildren: Ryan (Brooke) Tefft, Jon (Carly) Tefft, Sara Tefft, Joshua Kilzer and Allison Kilzer; her great-grandchildren: Frances Tefft and Harrison Tefft. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elsie, as well as many other family members and friends. We commend Donna to God’s safe-keeping where she is now reunited with those whom she loved.
A visitation for Donna will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary, Papillion. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 22, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 2315 I Street, Omaha.
