

Elaine Morris Seymour (Lanie), age 85, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in her home in Bellevue, Nebraska. She was born on February 10, 1940, in Hollywood, California, to Eula and Robert Morris. She grew up in Lompoc, California, before settling in Bellevue, Nebraska. In her early life, Elaine studied medicine at UC Davis. She had the motivation to be a brain surgeon, but life led her toward marriage and raising a family of strong daughters. Elaine was an environmentalist, an activist, an avid reader, a poet, and a strong-willed woman. Over many years, she created a beautiful wild haven in her backyard, a retreat with trees, flowers, and animals, which her many grandchildren remember fondly. Elaine was a person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved her faith and shared her faith and immense kindness with others. She will be missed and forever adored by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Seymour; her younger brother, Robert Morris; her daughters, Suzanne Faysal Aref Barghouti (Dave), Kara Gillmore (Bill), and Sheryl Vernon; her grandchildren, Jesse Kroupa (Richi), Natasha Kessler (Tony), Jeremy Gillmore (Amber), Joe Gillmore (Mell), Conner Gilmore, and Ashe Vernon; and her great grandchildren, Akito, Ayane, Asami, Kiara, Milo, Briar, River, and Maddox.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Faysal Aref Barghouti; her second husband, Robert Calvin Sabin; and her younger brother, Richard Morris.
VISITATION WITH ROSARY Thursday, June 19th from 5-7pm at St. Mary's of Bellevue Catholic Church. FUNERAL MASS Friday, June 20th at 10am at St. Mary's of Bellevue. COMMITTAL SERVICE at Omaha National Cemetery.
