It is with great sadness that I write this memory of my beloved friend and fraternity brother Erv.  Erv was a true friend in every sense.  I treasured his friendship and times together over the years.  Whether playing a round of golf or meeting at Sortinos for lunch with fellow Central High classmates, all times spent with Erv were special times.  He would often call me just to say hello and catch up on things.  He never failed to ask me to say hello to my wife in his closing.   We spoke often of his illness, but he just kept plugging along.  When the phone calls stopped coming, I knew things were not good.  The news of Erv's death hit me hard as I know it did to all who knew him.  Rest in peace brother.  You will never be forgotten.

Sincere condolences to the family of Erv Rehder. Erv was the ultimate symbol and promoter of Bryan High School! His complete dedication to students was absolutely awesome! Through student council, to history classes, to coaching  wrestling and baseball, Erv touched the lives of many people.                                                                                                     I had the pleasure of sitting next to Erv as a teacher in our Bryan social studies plan area. Every day was a wonderful experience! If you ever needed something, Erv had it. Either at one of his two school desks  or in his van! Eating lunch with Erv and others in our plan area was a highlight of every day. We often thought we were having potluck because Erv brought so many different dishes.The humor shared at those lunches and Erv’s unmistakable laugh are very fond memories.                                                                                        Erv  really was Bryan Green and Gold! Who could ever forget his golden voice announcing football games? Erv gave his heart and soul to Bryan students every day. We will miss you my good friend. My condolences to the family of Erv Rehder.   
Erv was a "giant" of a teacher as demonstrated by his love & care of all things Bryan HS.   Erv strove to make a contribution to student success both seriously and with humor each day -- a plethora of teachable moments.
Surely  Erv and Boettch may be sharing stories and what if's.  Thankfully we were blessed to know him, listen to life woven in history, and history made alive.

Thoughts and prayers to the family.
Mr. Rehder was an awesome teacher, wresting, and baseball coach.  He would always take the time to talk to you at school and listen, then provide advice…..great mentor.

As so many others have commented, Erv Rehder was a wonderful teacher and colleague! But I’d like to share another story about him. You see, Erv’s father graduated from South High with my parents. So when the Class of ‘39 was having their 50th reunion, the date they selected just happened to be my father’s 68th birthday. Mom got the idea to hire a dancer to come to the reunion to wish my father a Happy Birthday. We chose a dancer dressed as a “saloon girl” because Dad loved westerns. Erv attended this reunion with his father, and he took videos of all the activity happening that night, including the saloon girl who had arrived to entertain my Dad! Mom and Dad both appreciated that Erv got all that birthday celebration on camera along with all the other reunion activity! It really made Dad’s birthday one to remember! ❤️ 

Erv was also the announcer for the Bryan High Varsity Football  games, and my husband, our sons who were Bryan alumni, and several of our best friends who were also Bryan High fathers or alumni served as the sideline crew volunteers for 25 years. During each game, Erv  always said something over the sound system to acknowledge the sideline crew! No other announcer before or after him did that, and our guys really appreciated the recognition! 

What a wonderful and caring man! May you rest in peace Erv, and thanks for all the memories!

"Be that as it may" and "Per se" are the words I heard the most in conversation with Erv in high school and beyond.   His cackling laugh could be heard for blocks! A good man with a big heart who really cared about people and especially students. You will be missed and forever remembered!  Rest in Paradise, Erv.

Condolences to the Rehder family.  He was a great and inspirational teacher.   I loved attending his classes and really enjoyed his play by play at the football games.  Teachers and men like Mr. Rehder are rare.  He will be missed.

Erv was a good man, friend, and 31 player at Thanksgivings.  He had a strong belly laugh and honored family.  I will miss him and remember his positive spirit.

Really loved playing JV baseball for Coach Rehder years ago at BHS.  So supportive and positive at all times. Ran into him years afterward and I could still tell he had that love and passion for helping BHS students along their journeys.

Mr. Rehder introduced me to my life-long love of history. He was a teacher, mentor and later on my friend. He will always hold a special place in my memory for all he did for me and his students. In particular, he encouraged me to take the AP US History exam, staying after school on his own time to administer practice tests to me. He loved everything about teaching, above all his students, and it showed every day. Godspeed to you sir, Heaven gained a great angel with maybe the best laugh I’ve ever heard. Until we meet again.

When Erv announced the Bryan High School Varsity Football games, he always honored the volunteers on the “chain gang,” which included my husband and a bunch of our friends who were also BHS fathers. Later our sons and some of the other sons, who were Bryan alums, joined the gang. They volunteered for about 25 years. No other announcer before or after Mr. Rehder paid any attention to them! He was one of a kind! ❤️

Rest in Peace!
Mr. Rehder will be missed as a friend, teacher, and coach at Bryan High School. A great man who always made time for conversation at school and the community. I remember skipping baseball practice on senior skip day. He sat me on the bench the next day as we played Bellevue West. He gave me the scorebook to keep at the game. He was a man of his word.

"LETS HEAR IT FROM THE WEST SIDE OF THE STADIUM... FROM THE ALUMNI!! PARENTS!!!"  As a student I was very fortunate to have him for AP world history. He made BORING STUFF FUN!! We were truly lucky to have him as one of our mentors!  
RIP TO ERV AND THE PURPLE CLAW OF SILENCE!

Mr. Rehder was always one of my favorites and he instilled my love of “North and South”.  I hope that he enjoyed his years of retirement surrounded by his friends and family.  Prayers sent to his family.

As a junior in high school at Millard South High School, I became acquainted with Mr. Rehder through metro Omaha student council gatherings.  He WAS Bryan High to me.  His love and enthusiasm for working with young leaders was inspiring.  Years later, I came to work for the Omaha Public Schools and Mr. Rehder was just as captivating as a colleague as he was when he mentored me back in the early 80's.  May perpetual light shine upon him now and forever.

My condolences to the family. He was a great person and related so well with his students. He played softball with my uncle so I knew him out of school and always enjoyed spending time with him.

My heart and prayers go out to Mr. Rehder's family and close friends.  He was an amazing man who made a tremendous impact on the younger generation through education and coaching.
