Gary was born on July 17th 1950 in Omaha to Melvin and Marie Stienblock. On the same day, same hospital, Marie’s sister-in-law Vernie gave birth to his cousin Bill Ondracek. Gary had a close relationship with his mom’s family all his life.
After high school Gary joined the Army, where he spent time in Vietnam and Germany.
In 1973 he met the love of his life, Rose, in a McDonald’s parking lot where her car broke down. They were married May 18, 1974 and spent the next 50 years together.
His first and foremost love was his family. His daughter Nicole Lee (Nikki) was born March 23, 1976 and on December 14, 1979 Tiffany Marie was born. There was no limit to his love for his girls. One of his proudest moments in his life was when his grandson Joshua Wendle and granddaughter Grace Wendle were born. He attended more karate tournaments, football games, basketball games, softball games, and dance competitions than one can count, but would never miss anything they did.
Aside from his family he was proud of his cars, a 1990 Corvette and his mother’s 1980 Cadillac.
He was a long-time member of the American Legion, VFW, and Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Teamsters Union.
He loved his dogs, his cats, and his horses.
He will be incredibly loved and missed by us all.
