

Glenn J. Krabbenhoft son of John and Elsi (Graalfs) was born in a doctor's office at Glenwood, Iowa April 11, 1931. He was a breach baby birth weighing 13 lbs. At the time it was doubtful if mom and child would survive but by God's will they both did survive.
Glenn was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Mineola, Iowa. He farmed with his dad before being drafted into the U.S. Army in October 1951. He proudly served his country during the Korean War from 1952-1953. He was a heavy equipment operator building airstrips at Teague and Osan South Korea. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the Army Reserve. He received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal for Korea, Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars meaning 3 seasons in Korea, spring, summer and fall. Good Conduct medal, New Korean War Service Medal. He also received medallions from Republic of Korea, Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and another medallion in appreciation of the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War, a medallion commemorating the 66th anniversary of Inchon Landing.
He met Lavonne at the Music Box, a dance held in Omaha. They married October 27, 1956 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millard. They were married 64 years. They were blessed with four children- Allen, Jolene, Glenda and Kent., four grandchildren- Lisa, Megan, Cody Krabbenhoft and Cole Skiba.
Glenn drove a concrete truck for Ready Mix Concrete for 36 years, retiring in 1993. They loved to travel both by car and bus. They visited 47 of the lower 48 US states plus Alaska, Atlantic Provinces & Canada. They also visited Paris France, London England, Innsbruck Austria, Belgium & Germany. A very important event was visiting a cousin in Germany and being able to see where his father was born at Wittmoet, Germany.
They Enjoyed Polka Dancing and attending various polka fests including Toledo, Ohio. Kewasum, Wisconsin. Amana, Iowa. Billings, Montana. Las Vegas, Nevada. New Prague, and Rochester, Minnesota, Tabor S. Dakota and closer to home at Starlight Ballroom at Wahoo, Nebraska.
Glenn was a lifetime member of the National Korean Veterans Association and Nebraska Korean Veterans Association Chapter #1 which he was a founding member. He was also a member of the German American Society, serving on the board in previous years.
He is preceded in death by Parents, 3 Brothers, 1 Sister. Survived by Wife Lavonne. Children: Allen (Barb), Jolene, Glenda (Rob), Kent (Deb) Grandchildren: Lisa, Cody, Megan Krabbenhoft, Cole Skiba.
