Hello papa.  Today is 6 months since your lovely memorial.  Barb & Bob will be here next week so we can go to your SAC Elite Guard Reunion which we are looking forward to.  Blaze goes to his first camp on 7/23 for a week in Wayne, Nebraska (your middle name lol).  Brie & Drew drove mom's car to Muskatine, Iowa, with David & Lexy to see David's family for a week. It was the most beautiful day that we could have had it (Saturday January 19, 2013) so I'm post here on the 9th (the day you took your last breathe) and the 19th (the day we celebrated). Hi Dad, it's been 2 months today that we had your great memorial.  Barb left on 3/12 to go back home.  We are still trying to sell your home.  Dana & Blaze drove Barb's new car to her after your tradein.  They stayed with Aunt Cathy and then onto Barbs.  It's spring break so it was a great opportunity for Dana & Blaze to have a road trip.  Your urn (Barb's) was in the glovebox so you were with them.  I miss & love you.  Thank you for everything.  Take care of mom.

It is hard to leave my house everyday and not see you outside. As the weather gets warmer it will be even harder. You did have the best yard on the block. I will miss are small chats, but most of all I will miss your great big smile. Our kids will miss you too. Preston always knew when you were outside. So sorry to hear about Jack. I will never forget Jack and Alba as our neighbors and great people with caring hearts.  Barb and Deloras, I will keep you in my prayers as you go through this tough time.

Jack will always be remembered as a mechanical genius who taught many of his wonderful skills to those he worked with. There has never been another Jack Hatcher Mail Processing Equipment Mechanic (MPE). Thanks Jack for all the knowledge you shared with us. From your maintenance friends at the Omaha Post Office.

We remember meeting Jack and Alba in November 1984 soon after we moved up the street on Frontier Drive.  We hosted an open house and they both attended. 

Jack and Herman shared many interests including military service, house projects, automobile repair, and maintaining a nice home.  Our friendship grew further when Jack offered to help us with new home projects.  Jack had the expertise, the right tools, and he was always willing to share.

Among the memorable projects we worked on together were our deck renovation, Jack's deck renovation with Dana, our 1982 Ford truck brakes, custom spice rack, stand up pedestal for Diane's Mom, and our downstairs room renovation.  We learned many things from Jack.  In particular, Jack always made it a point to fully scope out the project, obtain all materials, measure twice, have a very sharp pencil, and proceed with care.  Above all, Jack's involvement in a project meant the project was done correctly and professionally. 

We moved to upstate New York in the fall of 1989.  Prior to our departure, Jack and Alba hosted a farewell party for us and invited neighbors and the couple who bought our home.  At the party, we were presented with a Nebraska plaque that read, "Farewell to unforgettable friends - you will always be remembered." The plaque remains with us in a place of honor.  Jack also gave Herman a US Postal Service coffee mug that Herman still uses today.

After we moved to New York and then to North Carolina, we kept in contact with phone calls, letters, and E-mails.  Prior to Christmas 2012 we had a nice long chat. Jack was very happy with his new roof following storm damage and eager to install a laminate floor in a bedroom.  Jack always had a project in mind.

Jack was a great guy and will be missed.  We're sure Jack is now spending time with Alba and sharing his expertise in Heaven's projects.  Indeed, Jack will always be remembered as an unforgettable friend.

I would call you my 2nd Dad. Every time I grill out I will think of you, remember the grilled ribs, you always cooked. You was quiet the griller. I will watch over Barb for you. Give Mom and big kiss and hug from me. We will all miss you. I'll see you again when I get there.

I'm so glad I had an opportunity to know you and appreciate your help and Bonnie's with my home.  We had fun times that won't be forgotten.  Your legacy will live on in the hearts of many you have touched.  What a wonderful, kind man and friend.  You will be missed.

It's already been an adjustment not seeing you coming and going and it will be even harder as the weather gets nice not to see you outside in your yard, not having you there to say hello to, or chat with or just wave to as I'm outside caring for my grandkids.  You were such a nice man and a genuinely wonderful neighbor.  My daughter & son-in-law were so blessed to have you as their wonderful neighbor. My 5 ½ year old grandson, who was very fond of you, is also still trying to understand and accept that you won't be there next door anymore, that you went to heaven so suddenly. Jack, you will truly be missed and it will take us all a long time to adjust to your not being there right next door.   Extending my sincere and heartfelt sympathy to your family.

Our families were SO close in the early 70's and then we moved back to our southern roots.  Your daddy and mama were both very loved and admired  by those that knew them.
