

Born on May 6th, 1947, in Omaha, John lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1968 to 1972, with service that included time in Vietnam as well as work at the Lifeboat Rescue Station based in Charleston, Oregon.
Following his military service, John earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1982. He went on to enjoy a long and accomplished engineering career with Tenaska in Omaha, contributing to hydroelectric power plant projects around the world. His work reflected not only technical skill but also a sincere passion for innovation and problem-solving.
In 1968, John married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Linda Schomer. Together they built a beautiful life and raised two sons, Jeff and Tom. John was an avid auto enthusiast and a proud lifetime member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. His love of antique automobiles brought him joy, friendship, and countless cherished memories.
Above all, John was a big-hearted, generous man who loved spending time with family and friends. His presence was a steady, guiding force—one whose warmth and wisdom will remain with us always.
John was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Rehberg; his parents, Charles and Nadine Rehberg; his sister, Janel Peterson; and his brother-in-law, Jim Peterson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda J. Rehberg (Schomer); his son, Thomas Rehberg; and his nephew, Ryan Peterson.
John’s legacy of kindness, integrity, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
