

Marilyn Nicosia formerly of Athens, PA was born June 12, 1952 in Sayre, PA the youngest of 3 children to Alfred and Myra (Epperly) Durand. She was raised on the family dairy farm in Herrick Township, PA. She attended Wyalusing Valley School District graduating in 1970, attended Keystone Junior College in Tunkhannock, PA and then graduated from the Robert Packer School of Nursing to fulfill her longtime dream of being a Registered Nurse. She became the ER Supervisor for Towanda Memorial Hospital before becoming the Occupational Health Nurse for DuPont, from where she retired. Taking care of people was a passion of hers and she was very good at it. While growing up Marilyn enjoyed raising dairy calves and riding her favorite quarter horse Misty. She had a lifetime passion for her animal friends.
Marilyn passed peacefully February 2, 2024 in LaVista, NE with Josh and Kim at her side. In addition to her parents Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Salvatore Nicosia, and her favorite brother Tom. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her and she will be greatly missed by her children Joshua (Jenn) Sitas Wyalusing, PA and Kimberly (Dean) Eyster La Vista, NE grandchildren Gabrielle, Jack, Charlotte, and Cash Sitas, Austin and Kailee Eyster along with her brother John (Donna) Durand Byron, NY, Sister-in-law Mary Durand Raleigh NC, stepsisters Tonie Martin and Peggy Brecher Towanda PA, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After her husband’s death Marilyn went to live with her daughter Kimberly as she dealt with the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. There will be a celebration of Marilyn’s life at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, let’s go Brandon.
