Michael Christian Steenbock

Michael Christian Steenbock, age 50, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023. He was at his home, surrounded by family. Mike loved sports, especially football, and cheered his Huskers through thick and thin. He volunteered his time and talent to every sport he encountered: campus intramural leagues with Theta Xi fraternity, slow pitch softball with the Old Milwaukee Bucks, and to any sport his sons played. Mike’s favorite part of his career was when worked with his mom and his Uncle Dick at the family car business. Later, he used his knowledge of finance to have a second career in investment planning. Mike leaves behind his wife, Kelly, and his two sons, Christian and Mitchell. He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Steenbock. He is survived by his father, Bill, brother and sister-in-law Jeff and Nicole, nephews Will and Aaron and many other family and friends. Mike’s love and devotion to his family was his defining characteristic. The memories and stories of his humor and dry wit will long be the balm that keeps him in our hearts. A memorial to celebrate Mike’s life will be held, details to follow. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating your time or money to local youth sports.
