Ruby enjoyed life and her family. Up until 6 months ago, she was still driving and doing exercise classes at the YMCA. She was an avid CUBS fan through good and bad. However, we could not get tickets when they made it to the World Series, we did make it to Chicago and sat in Cubby Bear Lounge (right across the street from Wrigley) for over 10 hours. Mom said it was the first time she ever paid a cover charge and ran a tab in a bar. Ruby never had a bad word to say about anyone and accepted everyone. She tended bar at the American Legion Post 32 for many years, retired once at 70, but they asked her back and she finally retired at 80. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Ruby loved playing cards and loved taking her kids nickels, dimes, and quarters.
Ruby celebrated 94 years of life and will be missed by more than she could ever have imagined.
She was preceded in death by parents Peter and Minnie Wulf, husbands Hap Blum and Charles Croft, daughter, Dixie Anthony, and son-in-law Tony Despines. Sisters Darlene Scheef, Lucille Neuhaus, Lorena Messinger, and brother Bob Wulf. She is survived by children; Mike (Beth) Croft, Ted Croft, Cindy Croft, Mary Jo Kennedy, Kathy (Brian) Stanesick, Christy (Jeff) Williams, Todd (Mary Jo) Blum, and Tammy Despines, 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 1 soon-to-be great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Cubs gear is encouraged for both the visitation and the funeral.
