Bill was born in Massachusetts on September 7th, 1946. As a young boy, Bill lived in Germany and Texas while his father, Ivan, served in the military. His family eventually settled in Exeter, California where Bill grew up with his brother, Jimmy and sister, Patsy.
In high school Bill enjoyed hanging out with his friends, playing football, and working for the Adolf Gill Cattle Ranch Company. He helped the Gill family with many tasks, including yard work, driving their car to the Rose Bowl, and working on the ranch in Lake Tahoe. He told stories about Adolf stopping him from mowing to sneak him in and watch the game together whenever Adolf's wife went to the store. Once Adolf's wife came back Bill would sneak back out to mow.
Bill had 57 years of civil service, which includes his time spent in the US Army from August 1966 to September 1973, where he served in the Vietnam War. Once he was honorably discharged as an officer, he continued his civil service with a career at the United States Post Office. Bill took much pride in his work. At the Post Office he served in many roles, including leadership. His service included time in California, Washington, Kansas City, Chicago, and Omaha with multiple details throughout his service. Bill moved to Omaha in 2011, assuming the Manager of Operations Program Support role for the Central Plains District Office. He loved to be in the middle of all the action and supported the district in being ranked the #1 District two times in his tenure with them. When the post office restructured, he moved to a new position, as a Retail and Delivery Command Center Team Lead which he maintained until his passing. Many who worked with him described him as the best boss ever. He was much appreciated for his knowledge and love of the Post Office.
Bill worked hard but always found time to enjoy life. When his boys Bobby and Jeff were young, he helped coach little league baseball. From grammar school to high school, he never missed one of their games. In California, Bill had season football tickets to the College of the Sequoias that he enjoyed attending with his father Ivan and his family, never missing an out-of-town game. He also belonged to the Visalia Country Club and could often be found playing golf there; sometimes 36 holes at a time. Not only did Bill like playing golf but he loved watching golf and always tuned in for major tournaments such as the US Open, British Open, Masters and Ryder cup. He loved sports in general. One of his favorite past times was watching football, baseball, or basketball. Bill also enjoyed reading and listening to great music. Once he moved to Omaha, he often traveled back to Kansas City to spend time with Alex, Kris, Mia, Caiden, and Evie, as the grandkids brought him much joy. Bill loved to travel with his good friends from Omaha and took several trips to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Memphis, Kentucky, and Texas. Bill was typically seen with a smile on his face and mischievous twinkle in his eye. He was admired and loved by many.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ivan and Clara Todd; and sister, Patricia Todd.
