

Bermah Laveana Vaughan, 79, of McKinney, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at Medical Center of McKinney. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7th, at Hopewell Cemetery in Lamar County. Mrs. Vaughan, the daughter of Charles & Fanny Nichols McKinney, was born March 21, 1936, in Maytoy, OK. She was a hairdresser at nursing homes before beginning a career as a nursing home administrator. Bermah had a love for the elderly and children. Later she owned and operated a drafting company which located underground cables for the telephone industry. As an entrepreneur in the 80’s, she took buildings in downtown McKinney and renovated them into restaurants and offices. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. She married James Frederick Vaughan, and he preceded her in death on July 19, 2004. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Jason Vaughan, Jonah Vaughan and Rebecca Laveana Vaughan. Survivors include her children, Valerie Pressnell of McKinney, James Vaughan, Jr. & wife Kathy of The Colony, Travis Vaughan & wife Jennifer of Shiner, Van Vaughan & wife Tamara of Parker, Kari Kennedy of Topsham, Maine and Vincent Vaughan & wife Lisa of McKinney, grandchildren, Bobby Pressnell, Tracy Heft, Alayna Vaughan, Nicholas Vaughan, Justin Vaughan, Jordan Vaughan, Sarah Ramirez, Rebecca Pelham, Hannah Evans, Olivia Vaughan, Randall Jacob Kennedy, Tara Kennedy, Dillan Philpot, Courtney Vaughan, Tiffani Hinkle, Taylor Vaughan, Victoria Vaughan, and Nathaniel Vaughan, great grandchildren, Ian Pressnell, Alyssa Pressnell, Nathaniel Pressnell, Spencer Heft, Noah Vaughan, Jason Vaughan, Jr., Nathan Ramirez, Evelyn Pelham, Emelia Pelham, Willa Evans, Scarlett Frazier, Rachel Kennedy, Bentley Gilbreath and Frank Hinkle, one brother, Earl McKinney, one sister, Francis Sparkman along with numerous nieces & nephews.
