B.T. Ruthart

B. T. Ruthart, 89, of Paris, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at his home. He was born February 21, 1926 in Slabtown, Texas, a son of William Phillip Ruthart and Mary (Moss) Ruthart. He grew up farming cotton until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in March of 1944 during World War II. He served in the European Theater in the 20th Armored Division of Patton’s Third Army. He went to work for Armco Steel in Houston in 1953 until he retired to his childhood home in Slabtown in 1983. He was an avid cattle rancher, enjoyed hauling cattle for a number of years and loved to spend time at the sale barn each week. He married Clemmie Faye “Lady” Weaver on September 13, 1947 in Paris, Texas. B.T. and Lady shared over 68 years together. B.T. was a member of the Life Tabernacle Church in Houston where he served as deacon for many years as well as a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Paris. B.T. was preceded in death by four brothers, Burnard “Jelly” Ruthart, Deward “Bull” Ruthart, Will Glidewell “Shike” Ruthart, and Geraldene “Deaner” Ruthart, and by one sister, Jo Ruthart. He was also preceded in death by two grandson; William Ricky Ruthart and Kenneth Alan Ruthart. Survivors include his wife, Lady, of the home; three sons, Rodger Dell Ruthart and wife Marlene of Paris, Rickie Alan Ruthart and wife Mitzi of Paris, Will Randie Ruthart and wife Sally of Paris, and one daughter, Dolores “Dee” Irene Miguez and husband Ronnie of Houston; grandchildren include Rodney Ruthart, Karen Bolton, Kim Ruthart, Laura Ruthart, Lynn Jordan, Chad Ruthart, Randi Ruthart, Dylan Ruthart, and Ben Ruthart. Great grandchildren include Jason Bolton, Destiny Ruthart, Riley Ruthart, Macy Ruthart, Tyler Ruthart, Cheyenne Ruthart, Austin Ruthart, Amanda Janca, and Ashley Thurman along with great great grandchildren, Isaac Bolton, Raymond Thurman and Bristol Ruthart. He is also survived by two brothers, Judge Ken Ruthart and Eddie Don Ruthart along with numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are: L. D. Ruthart, Dickey Ray Ruthart, Brad Ruthart, Tyler Ruthart, Rodney Ruthart & Bill Ruthart. Judge Ken Ruthart and Eddie Don Ruthart will serve as honorary bearers.
