

Heaven gained another angel with the passing of Darrel Brown on Aug. 12, 2014. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by everyone he met. He was happy to help anyone at any time. Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday at Elm Wood Cemetery in Wagoner, OK. He was born in Wagoner, OK on Aug. 8, 1946. He graduated from the Northeast Oklahoma State University. Darrel married Martha Brown, M. D. on Aug. 12, 1977, building thirty-seven years of family and memories. They have one son, Aaron Brown, and two grandchildren, Braison and Braylee Brown. They called him Poppel, and they were crazy about him. He retired after 20 years as an honored peace officer in Oklahoma where he was a probation and parole officer. Following that he worked for several years in Texas as a parole officer and substance abuse counselor. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Brown and a brother, Dewayne Brown. Survivors include his wife, son, and two grandchildren, his mother, Laverne Brown, sisters, Linda Lawrence, Patricia Henson, Shirley Midland, Karen Garcia and Debi Garcia, over thirty nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nephews along with a plethora of friends. Casket bearers will be: Matthew Brown, Ivan Garcia, Iver Garcia, Justin Henson, Bo Henson and Roman Garcia. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
