David Hugh Rowell Jr.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home will transfer Mr. Rowell to Funeraria del Angel Restlawn in El Paso. Graveside Service for David will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.

Mr. Rowell, the son of David Hugh Rowell, Sr. & Nellie Fields Rowell, was born Nov. 19, 1942, in Dickinson, TX.

He graduated from Irvin High School in El Paso. Following graduation he joined the United States Navy, proudly serving from July 20, 1962 ~ Aug. 15, 1973, during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he began working for Civil Service at Ft. Bliss, where he remained until his retirement.

David was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.

His parents, his twin brother, Harry Eugene Rowell, a sister, Mary Jane Robitaille, and a brother, Eddie Rowell, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Harrison Rowell, whom he married on Oct. 16, 1964, building 59 years of family & memories, two children, Tammy Jean Strickland (John) and Danny Hugh Rowell (Diane), grandchildren, John Strickland, Jr., Heather Strickland, and Tyler Hugh Rowell (Jessica Perez), great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Kennedi, Chandler, Jenson, Kadence, Axle, & Kyson, and a brother, Tommy Vance Rowell (Susan) along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
