Doris Jean Matlock

Doris Matlock, 65, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Tiny Freelen officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 – 8 p.m. Mrs. Matlock, the daughter of Alfred Bennett Milner and Eunice Coble Milner, was born Dec. 22, 1952, in Slayton, TX. She worked a number of years in healthcare at area nursing homes before beginning a career with IHS of Bonham where she worked more than twenty years before her retirement. Doris was a member of Life Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. R. Matlock, Sr., her parents, two sisters, Pamela Sutton & Cecelia Milner and two brothers, Timmy Milner & Benny Milner. Survivors include three children, J. R. Matlock, Jr. & wife Stacie, Connie Murray & husband Thomas, Lourie Thoms & husband Jody, and Casey Wilson all of Paris, grandchildren, Jennifer Green, Keyla Layton, Kayla Layton, Alex Matlock, Brianna Matlock, Harley Matlock and Korey Arnold, ten great grandchildren, her special friend & companion, Harvey Sutton of Caviness, two sisters, Shirley Copeland and Nina Batts along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: Charles Mack Hicks, Chuck Darden, Patrick Arnold, Jamie Smith, Tina Copeland and Jeremy Sutton. Korey Arnold & Alex Matlock will serve as honorary bearers.
