

Edgar Earl Johnston, 75, of Paris, passed away Sunday, July 06, 2014, at his home. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Fangio & Rev. Ollie Lee officiating and music provided by Rev. Doug Holt. Burial will follow in East Post Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Ed, the son of Ernest & Essie Mae Holcomb Johnston, was born November 8, 1938, in Dallas. He served in the National Guard and trained under the U. S. Army. His career with the U. S. Postal Service, which spanned 34 years, began in Dallas where he ran a letter sorting machine. When he and his family moved to Paris in 1975, he was a letter carrier here in the city until his retirement. Edgar was a member of Paris Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Lee Johnston, whom he married in August of 1958, building fifty-five years of family and memories, three children, Vicki Reves & husband Steven of Pattonville, T. J. Chappell & husband Jimmy of Pattonville and Barry Johnston & wife Anja of Garland, his mother-in-law, Edna Lee of Milton, three grandchildren, Danielle Johnston, Jessica Johnston and Amanda Chappell along with several nieces & nephews. Casket bearers will be: Stanley Cope, D. C. Ford, Jackie Gilbert, Brent Hyde, David Hawkins and Harold Wilson. Leroy Samuels & Billy Ray Gentry will serve as honorary bearers.
