

Karol Adams Asay returned to Heaven August 2, 2015. She was born Oct. 14, 1939, in Jacksonville, Texas to J. P. & Judith Adams. She spent a happy childhood in Canton and moved to Mena, AR prior to attending college at East Texas State University. She devoted her career to teaching students with learning disabilities and loved her job and coworkers. She was a long time member of First Christian Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and spending quality time with her church family. Most of all, she loved her family. She was a devoted mother and an exceptional Granny to her beloved grandchildren. In addition, she was a special sister and aunt to her two nieces. Tiny in stature, she was a fierce advocate when any family member needed her. She will be remembered for her unwavering spiritual presence, zany sense of humor and nurturing nature. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving son-in-law, Mark McDowell, cousin, Leo Holmes, and several dear lifelong friends. Her living legacies are son, Steven Asay & wife Karey, daughter, Cindy McDowell, grandchildren, Colter & Mackenzie McDowell, Bailey, Sam and Alec Asay. Also, her much loved sister, Karen Hargus, cherished nieces, Karolyn Moore and Betsy Bolton and their children, Allie, Avery, Adam and Audrey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church of Paris, 780 20th N. E., Paris, TX 75460, where they will be split between the tutoring program, women’s ministry and the choir. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled memorial services for 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6th at First Christian Church with Rev. Lory Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday.
