

Mayme Sue Gurley Garner, 84, of Reno, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at Medical Center of Plano. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 24th, at Oak Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Judi Brandt officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Garner, the daughter of Hershal & Cora Dickinson Ryan, was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Brookston. She graduated from Paris High School and Paris Junior College. She began working as office manager at the Coca Cola Plant here in Paris. Later she became secretary for Oak Park United Methodist Church where she remained until her retirement in April 2014. She was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church. Sue married Harry Randall Gurley, and he preceded her in death in 2002. On July 23, 2005, she married Kenneth Garner. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Ryan. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, three children, Mark Gurley & wife Cindy of Novice, Brenda Smallwood & husband Rick of Paris and Garry Gurley of Paris, five step-children, Tom Garner & wife Rhonda of Boerne, Sam Field & wife Melody of Sonoma, CA, Steve Field & wife Carol of Dallas, Kim Field of Grapevine and Deb Field of Marble Falls, grandchildren, Chad McDowell & wife Karen, Tasha Brumbalow & husband Austin, Heath Smallwood, Courtney Miller & husband Doug, Wade Gurley, Jake Gurley, Katie Briggle & husband Glen, Seth Gurley, Payton Gurley and Avery Gurley, seven step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a sister, Grace Bridges of Paris along with a plethora of friends. Her grandsons will serve as casket bearers.
