Tommy Dee Archer

Tommy Dee Archer passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025. He was born on November 1, 1942, to John Wayne and Leola Von (Sutherlen) Archer in Bisbee, AZ. He married Patsy Jean (Oglesby) Archer on July 16, 1963, in Lubbock, Texas. Tommy & Patsy have two daughters: Tammy and husband Bill Anderson and Tonya Wheeler, of Colorado. Five grandchildren Marcie Buel, Meagan Aydelott and Janessa Jones of Colorado; Aaron Winn & Jacob Jones of Oklahoma and Chelsea McGinnis of Texas; ten great grandchildren Alesha, Kendall, Nina, Nora, Bayli, Titan, Rowdy, and Aspen of Colorado and Ellie & Zayne of Oklahoma and great-great grandson, Kai. Tommy is also survived by two brothers, Ronnie Archer & partner Libby of Paris and Gary Archer & wife Betty of Powderly along with many nieces & nephews.

Tommy graduated from Cunningham High School in 1960 and was employed at Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) for many years before he and Patsy owned and operated Hometown Donuts in Paris. They moved to Marshall, Texas in 1987 where they owned and operated Tex-Pack for 13 years. After retirement they lived in Colorado for a few years and then returned to Paris for the rest of their lives together.

Following Patsy’s death on June 18, 2011, Tommy married Linda Sue Anderson Archer until she passed away on February 19, 2020. Following Linda’s death Tommy married to Evelyn Cupit Archer until she passed away on February 25, 2023.

Tommy had five bonus children, Wayne (Felicia) Whitlow, Alan (Bridgett) Whitlow, Michael (Scotti) Remedies and Susan (Joey) Garcia, all of Louisiana and Ashley Whitlow of Texas. He had sixteen bonus grandchildren, and eight bonus great-grandchildren.

Tommy accomplished many honorable mentions in his lifetime, including his service in the United States Army and honorable discharge from 1961-1964, where he was known as “Archie” to his buddies who served with him. He spent most of his Army time stationed in Germany and then in 1976 he served his country again when he spent time in Tel Aviv, Isreal. Not only was Tommy a US Veteran himself, but he was also an award-winning volunteer for other veterans. He served as Commander of Chapter 89 Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in Paris, Texas and served as Commander of the State of Texas DAV, 2019-2021. He loved his country and remained in service to others throughout his lifetime.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Kathryn Archer Songer and Melba Archer Cantrell Stachowiak Browning and two brothers, Tillman Archer and Billy Wayne Archer.

The family will receive friends at Bright-Holland Funeral Home on Sunday, April 13th from 4pm-6pm and the funeral will be held on Monday, April 14th at 2:00pm at Bright-Holland Chapel, with his son-in-law, Minister Bill Anderson, officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery with Miliarty Honors.
