Gerald Robert Crane, 64, of Parker, Arizona died September 15, 2020. “Jerry” passed away in Lake Havasu City, Arizona after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Fullerton, California in July 1956 and adopted by wonderful parents and an older brother. His mother, Lillian Bernice Crane, father, Ernest Richard Crane, brother, Lawrence Richard Crane and also lifelong friends “Aunt” Betty Culp and “Sister” Susan Howerton predeceased him.
After growing up in Fullerton his family headed out for a short time on the carnival circuit and Jerry grew up attending 5 different high schools. But the family settled in Parker where Jerry began his restaurant career. Many of his friends remember him working at the Roadrunner Floating Dock Bar.
Soon after, Jerry landed one of his favorite jobs, working for a family at Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He ran their home from cooking and gardening to boat and car repairs. His love of cars (he bought and sold almost 50) came in handy while working at the Hanan family home.
But at one point Jerry left Tahoe to return to his ailing parents in Parker. His heart was always with family and at this point they needed his help and glad he was with them in their final days.
Jerry’s career continued as he managed PostNet in Palm Desert, California, managed Orchard Springs Resort in Grass Valley, California and was the Kitchen Manager at BlueWater Resort & Casino in Parker, Arizona.
Jerry was always ready to find hope and love. He enjoyed life and would try just about anything. This is probably why he liked to travel so much. Whether it was on a cruise ship in the Caribbean or flying to Brazil, Jerry was right at home. His most recent trip to the Philippines is where he met a new friend, Darwin Durana.
A special thank you to Joseph Roy and his daughter, Deja who Jerry considered family. They cared for him in their home in Parker during Jerry’s last few months.
Jerry leaves behind his dog, Kenny, and many friends and family from Arizona, California and Nevada including Bill E. Hanan, the Howerton/Casteneda family, Jeff Jarman, Ken Lile, Helen Westerlund and Beverly Bell.
Jerry’s wish is to be cremated and his ashes scattered with those of his brother and his dogs, Kimo, Sam and Sam 2. In lieu of flowers and because of Jerry’s love for dogs, please consider a donation in Gerald Crane’s name to your local animal shelter.
