Kee Kaibetony Jr. was born on August 19, 1952, and raised on the Navajo Nation in Tuba City, Arizona. He was of the Red Bottom Clan, born to the Many Goats Clan. While living on the reservation, he often shared stories of waking up early to farm the native land. In order to provide food, he hunted, fished, and gathered crops to bring to the table. He fondly remembered living in a hogan without heat, electricity, or running water, as if those memories had happened just yesterday.
At a young age, Kee moved to Parker, Arizona, where he worked tirelessly as a mechanic at Parker Motor Company.
He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1984 to 1993. During his nine years of service, he held roles as an Ammunition Specialist, Engineer, and Tank Commander. After completing his military service, he transitioned into law enforcement. Kee served with both the Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department and the La Paz County Sheriff’s Department from 1989 to 1999.
From an early age, Kee learned to be a provider, a hunter, and a protector.
He was the missing piece of the puzzle that nobody knew was missing. The family puzzle was finally complete when he married his wife, Becky, in 2000. Kee created a loving and supportive home in the best way he knew how. From the very beginning, he became the dad he didn’t have to be. No matter what challenges others faced, Kee was always ready to help. He loved Nathan, Little Becky, JJ, and Ortensia as if they were his own children.
Kee’s true purpose began to unfold when he became a born-again Christian on April 16, 1997. From that day forward, his life was forever changed. It was unimaginable to many that a third-generation Navajo medicine man would leave behind his traditional spiritual path to follow God. Kee often shared powerful testimonies of the inner and outer spiritual warfare he endured. His victory through faith was witnessed by many and will never be forgotten.
Together with his wife and other faithful servants of the Lord, Kee helped found Jericho Way Ministries, spreading the Gospel to reservations near and far. Church for Kee was never confined to a building—it was about reaching people where they were. All it took was willing hands to raise a tent, and a revival was underway. Righteous songs would echo over the rhythmic pounding of native drums as Kee found his unique way to spread the Word of God. It didn’t matter what mistakes someone had made, or continued to make—Kee never passed judgment. He was not a perfect man and made his share of mistakes, but he was always the first to say he had found redemption and salvation in serving God.
Kee Kaibetony Jr. was a righteous man—someone people could count on in their time of need. A man like Kee will never be replaced. His stories, faith, and legacy will live on in all who were blessed to share in his fellowship.
On May 18, 2025, Kee Kaibetony Jr., a devoted servant of the Lord, met his Creator.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kee Kaibetony Sr.; his mother, Eileen Ann Kaibetony; his siblings Lena, Rosie, and Johnny; and his children Lambert and Brianna Kaibetony.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rebecca Kaibetony; siblings Larry Kaibetony, Irma Smith, Linda Davis, and Sandra Kaibetony-Cue; and children Nathan (Maria) Hernandez, Rebecca (Julio) Cruz, JJ (Shylane) Hernandez, and Ortensia Yazzie. He is also remembered lovingly by numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who will carry on his values.
