Bonnie Oancea, age 82, passed away on April 12 at Harmar Place in Marietta, Ohio after a long struggle with cancer. Bonnie was the youngest child born to Rosalie (Brown) and John Gillis Fewell in Seiper, Louisiana January 13, 1929. Her early life was filled with pets and the outdoors for which she retained a lifelong love. At age ten, her father died and she was sent to live with half-sister, Hazel Mydock, in Canton where she would spend most of her life.
Bonnie attended secretarial school in Canton and became an accountant. Working was never drudgery for this Bonnie. She looked forward to each day on the job with gusto and instilled in her children a healthy respect for hard work.
In 1950, she married John Oancea. They adopted two children, Sheila and John Scott. Throughout her life Bonnie enjoyed dancing, gardening, knitting, laughing with friends, and traveling to the sun whenever she had a chance. They retired to Sun Lakes, Arizona, then Venice, Florida. In 2009 they returned to Ohio to be near their son and daughter-in-law in Marietta, Ohio.
Bonnie Oancea is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John Oancea, her daughter Sheila (Dan) Gurovich of Oak Park, IL, and John Scott (Peggy) Oancea of Marietta. She has one granddaughter, Kira Gurovich.
