Charles Herbert Pickens, 82, of Williamstown, went home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2011.
He was born October 31, 1928 in Meigs County, OH, a son of the late Frank and Frankie Whiteside Pickens. He retired from BF Goodrich and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict.
He was an active member of the Lions Club where he enjoyed directing the Christmas tree sales and inviting new members to join. Charles was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Williamstown where he was an usher and served on the Board of Trustees. He also loved to work on his property.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Pickens; his daughter, Cheri Garapic of Columbus, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Grant and George Pickens; three sisters, Margaret Brown, Wanda Meredith, and Naomi Pickens; and a son-in-law, Christopher Garapic.
Services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Steve Gedon officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
