Doris Marie DeLong

She was born March 7, 1923, in Parkersburg a daughter to the late Clark J. and Lenore Rossa Hill Christopher. She was a homemaker, a member of Stout Memorial UMC, over the years she was a Sunday School teacher, helped with Vacation Bible School, and loved to work in the Nursery. She was also a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, and helped throughout the years with both the Boy and Girls Scouts. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her spouses, Raymond Strother, and Glen DeLong, and brothers, Roy F. Christopher, Robert W. Christopher, and William C. Christopher.

She is survived by her children, Larry E. Strother (Carol) of Charles Town, WV, Brenda K. DeLong Williams (Jim) of Parkersburg, and Jeff G. DeLong (Sherry) of Vienna, grandchildren, Angela Strother of Clearwater, FL, Tamara Hoy (John) of Clearwater, FL, Stephen Hendricks of Martinsburg, Dirk Williams, Brendan Williams, Lauren Williams, Matt DeLong, Hannah DeLong, and Sarah DeLong (Jordan McIntyre) all of Parkersburg, great grandchildren, Jacob Hoy, Graceanna Strother, Chastity Hendricks, Emalynn Faith DeLong, and Kaden Grey McIntyre, along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Service will be Monday, December 9, 2013, 1:00 pm at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Dr. Paul Russell officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
