Edward Dayton Sims, 84, of Parkersburg, passed away Oct. 3, 2010 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1926 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Daniel E. and Ethel G. Crosten Sims. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years, and was a member of the Lubeck United Methodist Church where he was President of the Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, D. Louise (Anderson) Sims; three sons, Lyle E. Sims of Vienna, Charles T. Sims of Morgantown, WV, and Mark E. (Kathy) Sims , of Parkersburg; one brother, Donald E. Sims of St. Albans, WV; one sister, Helen L. (Bill) Sams, of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Dustin and Charity Sims, and Michelle Hazelett; and best friend and caregiver, Bob Phillips.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl E. Sims.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Mark Parsons officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
