

Larry Leotis George, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on January 30, 2026, at home in Parkersburg, West Virginia, surrounded by family after a long battle with dementia. He was born on July 28, 1944, in Parkersburg, the son of the late Burdett George and Mildred Mae Dunbar George. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1962 and was a 1968 graduate of Glenville State College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.
He was an entrepreneur and owner of multiple businesses including Larry’s Mobile Homes, Pizza Queen, and the Music Corner. He was most known for his love of gospel music and serving in local churches. Larry was the choir director for numerous church cantatas, dramas, and singing groups. He was a devoted husband, dad and papaw to his family, and never met a stranger. Larry will be remembered for his larger than life personality, sense of humor and being kind-hearted and generous to everyone.
Larry is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Carol George; two children, Shawna Fordyce and Larry (Judith) George; and two stepchildren, Brian (Brandy) Reed and Kristen (Jason) Johnson; ten grandchildren: Stacey Fordyce, Elizabeth Fordyce, Vicki Fordyce, Katherine George, Genevieve George, Hayla (Matt) Maxted, Kallie (Clayton) Dixon, Laney Reed, Brayden Johnson, Allison Johnson; five great-grandchildren: Raylen, Wrenley, Rowyn, Layton, and Sage; mother-in-law, Vonda Board; and brother-in-law, Rodney Jackson.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Jackson George; his granddaughter, Samantha Fordyce; his son-in-law, Jed Fordyce; father-in-law, Harold Board; and brother-in-law, Ken Board.
A special thank-you to Amedisys Hospice, especially his nurse, Tammy Cline, and other caregivers. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 4,2026 at 2 pm. Visitation will be from 11am to 2pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
