Loren Lee Johnson, 66, of Belpre, OH, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at his residence. Born on June 19, 1958 in Parkersburg, WV, he was the son of Howard Johnson and the late Esther Wine-Johnson.
Loren graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1976, where he left his mark as a talented and passionate member of the PHS A Cappella Choir. Being accepted as a sophomore into the choir—an honor typically reserved for juniors—was a testament to his dedication and exceptional singing talent. Loren’s love for music stayed with him throughout his life, often bringing joy to those around him.
After graduation, Loren earned his general contractor’s license, launching a remarkable career in construction. He worked as a superintendent for Phoenix Associates Inc—a commercial building firm—playing a pivotal role in developing many significant projects in the community, including the cancer treatment centers for Marietta Memorial Health System in both Marietta and Belpre. Loren was known as a “fix-it” man with a meticulous eye for detail and his relentless work ethic. No project was too big or small, and he took great pride in his craft and shared his knowledge with others.
Loren lived a vibrant life filled with family, friendships, and a love for the outdoors. He cherished his time golfing and boating, always eager to soak up the sun and the beauty of nature. He also loved roller skating and rollerblading in his younger years, a pastime that reflected his lively spirit. Those close to him will never forget his quick wit and great sense of humor, which could brighten any room and bring smiles to everyone around him.
Loren’s family was his heart. Together with his former wife and closest friend he raised two beautiful daughters who were his pride and joy. Additionally, he spent a lot of his life with Lorie’s two sisters and their husbands, Susan Beall (Patrick) and Nichole McDaniel (Todd), as they shared a lot of laughs and memories together. Loren also showed an immense amount of love for his brother and two sisters, and everyone included in their extended families. Loren’s love for his family knew no bounds, and his generous spirit touched the lives of everyone around him, including his coworkers, who admired his dedication, determination and kindness.
Loren had a heart full of life and a boundless love for sharing his knowledge and passions with others. His wisdom, laughter, and big-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A man of deep faith, Loren was a Christian who found strength and guidance in his beliefs. His faith shaped the way he treated others—with compassion, humility, and kindness.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his daughters, Lindsie Johnson and Lanie Johnson; the mother of his children, Lorie Johnson; his father-in-law, Michael Combs; his father Howard Johnson; his brother, Arron Johnson (Erika); and his two sisters, Olga Thomas (Philip) and Leslie Johnson (Karen).
In addition to his mother, Loren was preceded in death by his beloved mother-in-law, Karen McVay.
Per Loren’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. A memorial service to celebrate his incredible life will take place on March 1, 2025 at Worthington Golf Club, Parkersburg, WV from 5pm to 9pm.
