

He was born December 14, 1956 in Parkersburg, WV a son of the late James “Jim” Cunningham and Dana Reese Cunningham.
Mark was a dedicated chemical engineer and served as an environmental safety manager throughout his career. He was a faithful member of Washington United Methodist Church in Washington, West Virginia, where his love for God was evident in the way he lived his life. He had a deep passion for music and found great joy in playing the guitar and singing. He was a supporter of West Virginia University football and basketball and loved spending time outdoors, especially walking in the woods. Above all, Mark was a true family man. He rarely missed a sporting event, proudly supporting his children and grandchildren in all they did. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, kind heart, and the love he showed to those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon Cunningham; son, Wesley Cunningham; daughters, Bobbie (Mike) Bragg, Jamie Caldwell, Nikki Caldwell, Mary (Tyler McGrew) Cunningham; brothers, Dan Cunningham , Roger (Corinthia) Cunningham ; sister, Abbie Burch (Mel); grandchildren, Aden McMillian, Luke McMillian, Riley Enoch, Alex Caldwell, and Sydney Knisley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robbie Cunningham.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday April 25,2026 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home.
