Rowena D. Michael

She was born June 8, 1935 in Wirt County, WV, a daughter of the late Roy O. and Rachel Prine Wine. She was a member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church and a member of the South Parkersburg Women’s Club for more than 50 years. She retired from Parkersburg South High School after many years as a secretary. In addition to being an avid WVU fan and PSHS Patriot fan, she loved trout fishing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Patrick Michael of Jackson, MS and Joe Michael of Parkersburg; one daughter Stephanie “Stevie” Carver of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Chad Michael of Houston, TX, Tiffany Tompkins and her husband, David, of Jackson, MS, and Rachel and Erin Kirk, both of Parkersburg; five great-grandchildren, Bailey and Logan Tompkins, Zoe Wells, Jada Baker, and Shelby Battin; one sister, Wanita Fortney; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy L. Michael and her brother, Hubert “Burl” Wine.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Joe Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
