

Retired Sergeant Alfred Dougald “Neil” Campbell It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Retired Ser- geant Alfred Dougald “Neil” Campbell on February 9, 2023 in Parksville BC with his devoted wife at his side.
Neil was born August 16, 1931 in Miami Manitoba and grew up on the family farm in Manitoba with his four brothers. Neil was pre- deceased by his parents Archibald Campbell and Grace Campbell (nee Richardson) from Carmen Manitoba, brothers Bert (May) Campbell of Miami Manitoba, Beverly Campbell of Vancouver BC, Bob (Winona) Campbell of Miami Manitoba and Colin (Yvonne) Campbell of Vancouver, BC.
Neil is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joanne Harder of Qualicum Beach BC, sons Don Campbell (Michelle Parkes) of Whistler BC, Grant Campbell (Sue Rogers) of Burnaby BC, and Gerry Campbell (Andrea Chalifoux) of Cumberland BC, stepchildren Réal Laberge (Elietha Bocskei) of Victoria BC, Nicole Biagioni (Rob Tompkins) of Qualicum BC and grandchildren Zarry Mitchell (Jason) of Whistler BC, Alex Campbell of Black Creek BC, Matthew Biagioni (Madison) of Calgary AB, David Biagioni, Nicholas Biagioni, Daniel Biagioni, Lincoln Laberge, Reina Laberge and great grand daughter Eloise Mitchell and many extended family members and good friends. Neil was a warm and friendly presence everywhere he went and he will be remembered with joy and love.
Neil was especially proud of the 27 years that he served in the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Provost Corp, as a decorated Military Police Officer. Neil was stationed at CFB Shilo MB, CFB Camp Borden MB, CFB Winnipeg MB, CFS Carp ON, CFB Chilliwack BC, CFB Portage, and with the Special Investigations Unit in Vancouver BC. He also served in deployments to Germany (where his son Gerry was born), and a six month peace keeping deployment to Cyprus. After retirement from the military Neil became a respected Corrections Officer at federal and provincial corrections facilities in Agassiz, Rayleigh, and Kamloops, BC. Being the affable and gregarious person that he was, Neil also dabbled in automobile sales for a period of time after retirement.
Neil proudly volunteered his time to serve as the Sergeant at Arms with the Kamloops Royal Canadian Legion for five years and participated in numerous Remembrance Day ceremonies. Neil was an active community volunteer at numerous City of Kamloops events, including World Curling Championships in1998, Kamloops International Baseball tournament and the BC Winter Games Neil was an athlete from a very young age and excelled at baseball. He loved skiing, curling, golfing, hiking and biking with family and friends. He participated in the World Police and Firefighter Games in Memphis, Tennessee, and in Calgary, Alberta.
Neil loved music and performances of every kind. He enjoyed watching hockey, baseball, football and golf. Neil was especially grateful for family vacations to Mexico, New Orleans, South Carolina and the Grand Canyon.
Private vigil and cremation will be held February 17, 2023. Celebration of Life is March 25, 2023 at 1 pm at Yates in Parksville BC
