He was predeceased by his parents, Emilia and Stanley Basara, twin brother John, sisters Jenny, Rita, and Wanda.
He was survived by his wife Helen, sons Robin (Dorthy), Chris (Kim) and grandchildren whom he loved so much, Logan, Cameron, Azilynn and Joseph, as well as many relatives and friends he cherished.
Andy touched the lives of so many during his time in the RCMP and as a business owner. He displayed love of his community as a coach, entrepreneur, and caring friend. He will always be remembered by his joking ways, willingness to help others, his love of polkas and of course his moustache. He was often known as the life of the party.
A celebration of life will be held with family and friends at Yates Memorial in Parksville BC on July 13th, at 1:00 pm.
Donations to help the fight against cancer or to your local hospital would be appreciated. His positive outlook on life, his wisdom and comical nature was an inspiration to all.
